What is  Twitter?

Twitter is a free social networking  service that enables its users to send and read short messages of up to 140 characters, known as tweets. These tweets are text-based posts which are displayed on the author’s profile page and delivered to the author’s subscribers or followers. All Twitter subscribers  can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, or they can use a variety of external applications. The service is free and is a great too for building up your Social Networking profile and raise personal and brand awareness on-line.

For those of you who prefer a written lists of Top Ten Tips for Twitter Part II, this is for you!

1. Keep it professional, don’t be big-headed, or rude, you’ll trash your image
2. Share the love by helping your followers and those having difficulties
3. Don’t over automate, no-one likes listening to bleating robots
4. Pictures say a thousand words, post them on Twitter, they’re a great “eye ball puller”
5. Use bit.ly to shorten your URL’s so it makes it easy for others to Re-Tweet your messages
6. Share juicy bits of information you find on the web, if you found it interesting so will others
7. Respond to any Direct Messages you receive
   • (apart from ones asking you to sign up to get a million followers!)
8. Remember to “Mention” helpful Twitter users, it shows you care too
9. Respond to “@Reply’s” when people have responded to you,
   • help them raise their profile to your followers
10. Give your followers a huge hug by ReTweeting their messages, it helps the world go round!
